Editing cell contents

Cell contents can easily be changed using the pen. Most editing techniques are common to text, numeric, and formula cells, but there are also a few minor differences.

The following editing techniques can be used for text, numeric, or formula entries:

Erasing

EraserWide

Use the Eraser tool or the eraser tip of your pen (if available) to remove either ink or text. As you erase text, deleted characters are replaced with a light gray rectangle. When you finish erasing, these areas collapse to show you the resulting entry.

Selecting

CircleGesture

When working with existing cell contents or newly recognized entries, circle or "lasso" all or part of an entry to select it. The selected characters or symbols are shown in red. To undo a selection, tap in a blank area away from your entry.

Deleting

CrossoutGesture

Use an "X" cross-out gesture to delete either the current selection or a single character. When deleting single characters, you do not have to select them first.

Replacing

To replace a single character or the current selection, simply write your correction on top of it.

Inserting space

InsertGesture

You can insert space in an existing entry using the Insert Space gesture and then write your additions into the blank space you created. Draw the downward portion of the gesture at the point where you would like space to be inserted, and then continue drawing to the right. The length of the rightward portion of your stroke determines how much space is inserted.

Adding to existing entries

You can add ink to existing formula, text, or numeric entries. In general, you can make additions wherever they make sense, but see the sections on editing formulas and editing text and numeric values for more information on each.

Except for erasing, these editing techniques only work for cell entries that are displayed as text. They do not work for ink entries.
