Dragging expressions

Top  Previous  Next

In many cases, the easiest way to move a math expression from MoboMath to another application or from an application back to MoboMath is to drag it to its target location. When dragging from MoboMath to other applications, you always drag formatted text expressions, not handwritten input.

Exported expressions always contain the whole region, even if part of the region is currently selected. To drag you only need to hold the pen down in the region and drag the expression to the target application, being careful not to lift the pen. As you drag, a line will appear in your MoboMath window, but it will be erased automatically once you raise the pen. It is not necessary to make a region current before dragging it.

Dragging from MoboMath to another application is always considered a move (or cut and paste) operation. You can make a copy of your region first if you like by selecting it and dragging it to an empty place in your MoboMath window.

Whether dragging an expression into MoboMath is a considered a move or a copy is determined by the other application. Most applications treat this as a move.

You can also move expressions between MoboMath and other applications using the clipboard, or by saving the expressions in files for later use.

See the Export menu help topic to learn which formats are available and how to use them. You need to select the appropriate export format before you drag.

You can also drag expressions internally in MoboMath. See the topic on moving and copying expressions for more information on how drag and drop work internally.
