Use the Edit menu to cut, copy, paste, and manipulate an expression and set preferences for MoboMath's display and behavior. Many commands on the Edit menu can also be selected from the context menu or through command or editing gestures.
The Cut, Copy, and Paste menu items are primarily used for moving expressions to or from external applications. These operate on an entire region, not selected subexpressions within a region. If your export format is one that can be imported, you can also use cut, copy, and paste internally. These can be useful for moving expressions from one tab to another, but within a tab drag gestures are usually more precise and convenient.
Cut
Removes the current region and places it on the clipboard. You can then paste the expression into another application that supports the current export format. You can also paste it back in MoboMath (possibly on a different tab) if the export format is one that MoboMath can import.
Copy
Copies the current region to the clipboard.
Paste
Pastes the expression on the clipboard to the current tab. Typically, this will be an expression from another application that you want to edit, such as Microsoft Word, Mathematica, or MathML. Other formats, like images, cannot be imported.
You can also paste an expression copied or cut from MoboMath as long as the current export format is one that MoboMath can import.
Clear
Clears ink, a selection, a region, or an entire page, depending on your choice in the Clear submenu. To clear a page, you can also use the clear gesture or the Clear button. You can also delete a selection by crossing it out.
Promote
Moves the selected subexpression from the subscript to factor position, or from the factor to exponent position. This can also be accomplished through an editing gesture with a short upward drag.
Demote
Moves the selected subexpression from the exponent to factor position, or from the factor to subscript position. This can also be accomplished through an editing gesture with a short downward drag. Demote is the inverse of Promote.
Next alternate
Replaces the currently selected subexpression with an alternate recognition, if one is available. For example, 1f you wrote x but the recognizer returned X, select the X and choose "Next alternate" until a lower case x appears. You can use "Next alternate" repeatedly to cycle through a list of alternate recognitions.
List alternates
Shows the entire list of alternate recognitions for the currently selected character or subexpression and allows you to choose the one you want.
Add brackets
Inserts brackets into the current expression to prevent any possible ambiguity. For example, adding brackets to "2a + b" produces "(2a) + b".
Preferences
Opens the Preferences dialog, where you can customize the appearance and behavior of MoboMath.
