There is no universal standard for representing mathematics, so MoboMath supports several of the most popular math formats and lets you choose which format to use for exporting expressions. Some applications will understand one format, and some another you can pick the one that works for your application. The current export format always appears in the title bar.

Whichever format you are using, you can export expressions by dragging them to your target application or using the clipboard. If you save an expression in a file, you can pick the format at the time you save regardless of the current export format.

These are the formats and options you can choose. Depending on your version of MoboMath, some of these formats may not be available.

Mathematica

The Mathematica export format lets you create and edit expressions that can be evaluated and plotted in your Mathematica notebooks. Selecting Mathematica sets appropriate MathML options for exporting and importing expressions from Mathematica and enables recognition of many of the most popular Mathematica functions. See the help topic on working with Mathematica for more details.

Maple

The Maple export format lets you use MoboMath to create and edit expressions for use in your Maple worksheets. Selecting Maple sets appropriate MathML options for export and enables recognition of many of the most popular Maple functions. See the help topic on working with Maple for more details.

MathMagic

The MathMagic export format allows you to create and edit equations for use in MathMagic. Selecting MathMagic sets up the LaTeX options needed by for export and ensures that all MathMagic's standard function names are recognized. See the help topic on working with MathMagic for more details.

Word 2003

Word 2003 format allows you to export to either Microsoft Word 2003 or 2007. If you export to Word 2007 using this format, your equations will appear as classic Word Equation Editor expressions. If you use Word 2007, try both Word export settings to see which one you prefer.

Word 2007

This setting allows you to export to Word 2007 in its native format.

MathML

MathML is an emerging XML standard for math interoperability that is supported by many third-party applications and web browsers. If you want to use MoboMath with a particular application, check to see if your application supports MathML.

You can configure the style of MathML you want to export using theConfigure export menu item. Different applications may require different styles of MathML.

Since native MathML is a text format, you can export it to most text editors. You can also import MathML expressions to MoboMath. Just select the MathML text and drag or copy it into MoboMath. MoboMath will display the formatted expression.

TeX

TeX and LaTeX are popular text formats for inserting math expressions in technical papers. Selecting TeX export format allows you to generate TeX and LaTeX expressions in MoboMath which can then be inserted in your technical documents. You can configure the style of TeX you prefer using the Configure export menu item. Importing TeX expressions into MoboMath is not currently supported.

Image

Many applications, like graphics programs or web page editors, do not understand mathematics but can use images. This option allows you to export a JPEG image to any application that accepts that format. You cannot import images into MoboMath.

Configure export

For more detailed control over particular export formats such as TeX and MathML, select Configure export. See the Export formats topic for details.
