Adding ink

If you have a region in your MoboMath window with a formatted text expression, you can add more characters to expand the region or write new characters on top of old ones to replace them.

After writing your changes, tap the Enter button or use the enter gesture to recognize them.

In this example, the user wrote over one character and added some additional characters.

If you write new characters on top of a selection, MoboMath replaces the entire selection with your new material.

If you find this operation slow or inaccurate, you may get better results by doing one addition at a time, as long as you have a valid expression at each stage. This example could have been done in up to three steps.

Inserting space

If you need to insert characters or write in a crowded location, you can use the insert space gesture to open up extra space first:

Draw the gesture down and to the right without raising the pen. You can also use a down-left gesture to open space in the other direction.

The insert space gesture should work immediately, but the space it creates is only temporary, so fill it as your next action. Then tap the Enter button or use the enter gesture to recognize your added text.

Another option for inserting characters is to write them elsewhere, recognize them, and then drag them to spot where you want to insert them.

If you want to replace a character with an x by writing the x on top of it, the x may be interpreted as a deletion gesture instead. To avoid this, you can write the x elsewhere, recognize it, and drag it onto the target. Similarly, overwriting a character with lower or upper case O or a zero may select it instead.
