MoboMath will work much better for you if you follow some simple rules:
| • | Don't connect characters, and use printed rather than cursive characters |
| • | Write in as straight a line as possible across the page, not on a noticeable slant |
| • | Write expressions in a natural order, and don't go back to fix up earlier characters. If necessary, use Undo instead. |
| • | Write parenthesized expressions like "(a+b)" in any one of four commonly used orders – "(a+b)", "()a+b", "a+b()", or "a+b)(" – in all cases resulting in an expression that looks like (a+b). You can use any natural order to write an expression, but changing or adding to existing characters is not supported. For example, writing "a-b" first and then adding a stroke to change the - to a + won't work. |
| • | Keep independent expressions well separated. If you are editing or adding more characters to a region, write close to the existing expression. To create a new expression, write well away from any existing regions. |
| • | You can only add ink to one region at a time. This applies to both new regions and existing regions. |
| • | You can only perform editing operations on formatted math expressions, not ink. |
| • | MoboMath only recognizes meaningful expressions. For example, MoboMath does not consider a lone "+" meaningful – if you try to recognize it you will probably get "t" instead. |
