Write in MoboMath?

On most tablets, when you hold the pen near but not touching the tablet surface, you should see the cursor move with the pen. When you press the pen tip on the tablet, your pen generates a line as you move it, producing "digital ink".

You can write mathematical expressions anywhere in the main area of the MoboMath window. The writing area in the MoboMath window is gray during initialization and turns white when it is ready for input.

See the introductory information on writing and recognizing expressions for more information.

Erase my written input?

Use undo as many times as you need to erase your last pen strokes or undo other actions. You can either tap the Undo24 Undo button or use the Undo gesture

To use the Undo gesture, write it in an empty part of the window, away from other text or handwriting. If you undo too many steps, use redo to restore them.

To erase all ink on the screen, use Clear Ink from the Edit or context menus.

Have MoboMath recognize and convert my input?

When you have finished writing your expression, tap the Play24 Enter button or use the Enter gesture

MoboMath will replace your writing with a formatted math expression.

You can also set a timeout so that the handwriting recognizer will interpret your input automatically after a brief pause.

Correct a recognition error?

There are many ways to correct a recognition error or edit your results. Here are a few of the most useful:

If a character was incorrectly recognized, tap it to get an alternate suggestion. You can try this several times. To get an alternate interpretation for a short group of characters, first select the characters by circling them and then tap anywhere in the selection.
You can write the correct characters on top of the mistaken ones and recognize them with the Enter button or gesture.
You can write and recognize a correct subexpression in another area of the MoboMath window and then drag it on top of the incorrect section of your expression. If the section you are replacing is more than one character, select it first by circling it.
If part of the expression is in the wrong location, drag it to the correct location.

See the overview of editing for further ideas.

Move an expression into my application?

After your handwritten input has been recognized and converted to a formatted math expression, you can move or copy it into Microsoft Word, Maple, Mathematica, or another application by dragging it or using the clipboard. Some products do not support drag and drop, but copy and paste should work in all cases.

You can also move expressions from many applications into MoboMath using the same methods, and then edit them and move them back to their original documents.

Before moving an expression, be sure your export format is set properly. You can see the current export format in the title bar and change it using the Export menu.
