Using MoboMath with Mathematica on a Tablet PC
MoboMath's handwritten equation editor lets you easily build Mathematica notebooks with your pen on a tablet PC or external tablet. To get started, just follow the steps below.
First, if you don't already have MoboMath, you can download a trial version here.
MoboMath recognizes many of the most popular Mathematica functions, including Solve, Simplify, Expand, Factor, Plot, and numerous math functions. These allow you to build highly functional Mathematica notebooks using only handwritten input. |
If not already displayed, open either the Basic Math Assistant or the Classroom Assistant from the Palettes menu in Mathematica. These provide an easy way to evaluate MoboMath expressions without using the keyboard. Just tap the Enter button to evaluate each expression after copying it from MoboMath.
Write a math expression in the MoboMath window as you normally would using natural math notation. You can include common Mathematica functions and syntax in your entries, as shown in this example.
Tap the Enter button in the MoboMath toolbar to translate your handwritten entry into a formatted math expression.
Copy and paste your translated expression into your Mathematica notebook.
Tap the Enter button in either the Basic Math Assistant or Classroom Assistant palette to evaluate your expression.

Don’t stop now. By repeating steps 3 through 6, you can continue entering and evaluating expressions to build an entire Mathematica notebook using MoboMath. |
Additional Tips
Before you begin, you may want to rerun the Configuration Wizard and check your settings in the Grammar menu to be sure all the math elements and symbols that you use in Mathematica are enabled.
If you see any errors when your handwritten entry is converted to a formatted math expression, you can use MoboMath's editing tools to correct them. See the MoboMath documentation for details.
Remember that MoboMath accepts many Mathematica functions as well as standard math expressions. However, special arguments and options of some of these functions are not currently supported.
If you also use MoboMath with other applications, be sure to check your export format whenever you want to use MoboMath with Mathematica.
Select Mathematica from the MoboMath Export menu. This initializes the settings needed to exchange math expressions with Mathematica and enables the use of many of Mathematica's built-in functions in MoboMath.
