Using MoboMath with iWork

You can create math expressions for your Pages, Numbers, and Keynote documents in MoboMath. If you have MathType installed as your iWork equation editor, you can use it with MoboMath to create editable expressions. If you don't have MathType, you can still create expressions in MoboMath and save them as images in your iWork documents.

To use MoboMath with iWork and MathType:

  1. Set MathType as your target

Choose MathType as your target application using either the Target menu or toolbar popup in MoboMath.

  2. Insert an equation into your iWork document

In your iWork application, choose MathType Equation from the Insert menu. This will create an equation placeholder in your document and open a MathType equation editor window to enter the expression.

  3. Write an expression

Write an expression in MoboMath and tap the Enter toolbar button to convert it to formatted math.

  4. Copy your expression to the MathType window

Copy and paste or drag your expression from MoboMath into the MathType equation editor window.

  5. Insert the expression into your iWork document

Choose "Close and Return" from the MathType File menu or just close the MathType window to insert the expression in your document.

To edit an existing iWork expression using MoboMath:

  1. Double-tap the expression to open it in the MathType equation editor window.

  2. In the MathType window, be sure your Cut and Copy Preferences (under Preferences in the MathType menu) are set to "MathML or TeX" and "MathML 2.0 (no namespace)".

  3. Select the expression in the MathType window and copy and paste or drag it into MoboMath.

  4. Make your changes to the expression using any of MoboMath's editing tools.

  5. Copy and paste or drag the edited expression in MoboMath back into the MathType window.

  6. Choose "Close and Return" from the MathType File menu or just close the MathType window to update the expression in your document.

See the MathType help topic for more information on using MoboMath with MathType.

To use MoboMath with iWork if you don't have MathType:

  1. Set Image as your MoboMath target

Choose Image as your target format using either the Target menu or toolbar popup in MoboMath.

  2. Write an expression

Write an expression in MoboMath and tap the Enter toolbar button to convert it to formatted math.

  3. Drag the expression into your iWork document

Drag or paste your expression from MoboMath into your iWork document where you want it to appear. Then adjust its size and reposition it as needed.

Equation images can not be edited in MoboMath. If you need to make any changes, write a corrected version of the expression in MoboMath and use it to replace the image in your iWork document.
