Requesting different results

Sometimes MoboMath may confuse a character you've written with another similar character. For example, the number 2 and the letter z can can be easily confused, especially at small sizes.

If the wrong character is displayed after your input is translated, you can ask MoboMath to return an alternate result using either a gesture or the Edit or shortcut menus. Often, the correct character will be returned on the second try.

You can also ask for an alternate result for a series of adjacent characters.

To get an alternate result for a single character using the stylus:

  • Tap the character with your stylus.

You can continue tapping until the correct result is returned.

To get an alternate result for a character using the Edit or shortcut menu:

  • Select the character by circling it.

  • Choose Next Alternate from either the Edit menu or shortcut menu.

To get an alternate result for a series of characters:

  • Select the characters you want to change.

  • Either tap the selection or choose Next Alternate from the Edit or shortcut menus.

If the correct result isn't returned in the first few tries, it's often easier to simply write the correct characters over the incorrect ones and tap Enter.

Depending on the complexity of your expression and your selection, there may be a brief delay before each alternate result is returned.

To choose from a list of alternate results:

Rather than retrieving alternate results one at a time, you can display a list of all alternates to choose from.

  • Select a single character or a sequence of characters by circling it.

  • Choose Show Alternates from the Edit menu or shortcut menu. The Alternates dialog will appear.

  • Select the alternate you want from the list and tap OK to update your expression.
