Clearing and deleting

You can delete handwritten input, the current selection, or the current region in MoboMath. You can also delete characters that are not selected, or clear the contents of the current document or page.

Depending on what you want to remove, these are your choices.

To erase handwritten input:

Use one of these options.

  • Tap Undo in the toolbar or choose Undo from the Edit menu to remove the last ink stroke.

  • Use the eraser tip on your stylus to remove specific ink strokes. On many styluses, you can also program a button on the barrel of the stylus to act as an eraser.

  • Tap the Clear button or choose Clear Ink from the Edit menu.

The following items apply only to formatted math.

To delete the current selection:

Use either of these options.

  • Tap the Clear toolbar button or choose Clear Selection from the Edit menu.

  • Write an X-shaped crossout gesture directly on top of the selection to delete it.

The selection can only be cleared if there is no handwritten input in the window.

To delete unselected characters:

Write an X-shaped crossout gesture directly on top of the character you want to delete. In some cases, you may be able to delete two or more adjacent characters using a single crossout gesture.

To delete an expression or region:

Each expression in MoboMath has its own associated region, outlined by a thin gray border. You delete an expression by deleting its region.

  • If it is not already selected, select the region containing the expression you want to delete by tapping anywhere inside it.

  • Choose Clear Region from the Edit menu or tap the Clear toolbar button.

If there is any handwritten input in the window, or if part of the expression is selected, the Clear toolbar button will remove those first before deleting the expression and its region.

By default, the current region and expression are highlighted with a pale yellow background, but you can change this in the MoboMath Preferences panel.

To clear the current document or page:

You can clear all ink and expressions from the current page or document in either of two ways.

  • Tap the Clear Page toolbar button.

  • Choose Clear Page from the Edit menu.
